THE PROJECT
Coming of Age in a Changing Middle East
Generation Rising follows young men and women across the Middle East as they navigate work, family, identity, political disillusionment, shifting gender roles, migration, and a rapidly changing digital world.
The book will offer an intimate, character driver portrait of a generation coming of age in the wake of the failure of the Arab Spring, the resurgence of authoritarianism, prolonged conflict and uncertainty, and a sweeping digital revolution tranforming every aspect of their lives and understanding how a generation is imagining its future.
From the Field
The book is being built through time spent with people — in their homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and everyday routines. This section will grow as the reporting continues.
